Privacy Policy

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Account Information (including OAuth Sign-in)

When you create an account or sign in to our website, we collect personal information such as your name and email address. If you use **OAuth (e.g., Sign in with Google, Facebook)**, we receive limited information from your chosen third-party provider, typically your public profile information (like your name and email address), which is used solely for the purpose of creating and managing your Xstringe account. We do not store your third-party account password. This data helps us manage your account, provide personalized services, and communicate with you.

Reviews

When visitors leave reviews on the site we collect the data shown in the reviews form, and also the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service, to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your review, your review is visible to the public.

Contact Forms

If you contact us through a contact form, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message. This information is used to respond to your inquiries and provide you with the necessary support.

Cookies

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

We may also use cookies to enhance your browsing experience, such as remembering your preferences or tracking website usage. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We may use third-party analytics services to track and analyze website traffic and user behavior. This helps us understand how visitors use our site and improve its functionality and content. These services may collect data such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, and the dates/times of your visits.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a review, the review and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their email). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Contact form submissions may be kept for a certain period for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.

Analytics data is typically retained for a standard period to analyze trends and improve our services.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left reviews, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

You have the right to withdraw consent where provided, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Where your data is sent

Visitor reviews may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Analytics data may be processed and stored on the servers of our third-party analytics providers.

Data breach procedures

In the event of a data breach, we will take appropriate steps to investigate and remediate the issue, and where required, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable laws.

Third-party data processors

We may use third-party service providers to process personal data on our behalf for purposes such as analytics, hosting, and email communication. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and only process it according to our instructions.
